16 What's Your Secret Sauce?

Describe five ways in which you think you have human capital that is truly unique.
·       Team Player – I always try to include everyone in any task. I am also really team oriented and always make sure I play the role I am supposed to play in any given project.

·       Passionate – Whenever I put my mind to work on something, I almost become engulfed by it. I become very passionate in whatever I put my mind to, and I think it is one of the key reasons I am always motivated by my work. For example, with the app I helped create in high school, I became so passionate about the product that I put all of my heart and soul into it to see it thrive.

·       Communication – I feel like I have pretty strong communication skills. I think this a very important skill to have since in any field of business or on any project, communication is key.

·       Compassion – I try to relate to the others the best I can. I do this to try to understand others and it lets me connect with people who are very different from me. It lets me connect with both the people I work with and the people I try to help.

·       Leadership – I have a lot of experience with being a peer leader from all of the volunteer work I have done and officer positions in clubs I have been part of in the past. I think with any venture, leadership is a very valuable asset to have.

Interviews:

1.     Interview with my sister

2.       Interview with my friend, Elder

3.     Interview with my father

4.     Interview with my high school friend Jonathan

5.     Interview with my friend Julia

6.     Interview with my classmate Catie

Reflection:
I think how I see myself and how others see me are very similar. A couple of the interviews talked about how I am hard working, energetic, and motivated. A couple of the interviews also pointed to my creativity and respectfulness. Overall though, I feel like the interviews and how I viewed myself were very similar. I think the interviewees are correct. My family and friends know me best which leads me to believe that what they said was reliable and correct. I would not make any corrections to my list above.

  1. I really enjoyed reading this post Avery because it was clear that all of the people you interviewed noticed your passion and dedication. I especially enjoyed the interview with your Father. While he was speaking you could hear how proud he was of you and he touched upon qualities that only people who really know you would notice, like your leadership skills.

  2. One thing that I have taken from this assignment is the people around you see who you are and can tell you if you need improvement. I agree with Katlin, the people that you interviews seemed sure of your passion and ambitions. These skills can help you further your product with customers.

  3. Hey Avery,
I like how you put team player as well as leadership because I find that those are two characteristics that go hand and hand as leaders have to know how to delegate tasks without being too overbearing or possibly lowering the morale of the team. I also feel as if people subconsciously try to project and highlight certain characteristics of themselves which others tend to gravitate more too.

  4. Hey Avery, you did a great job with this post. Your family and friends clearly respect you and notice your passion and drive to succeed. It's so important for us to take into account what others have to say about us in regard to our human capital while still remembering how we see ourselves. You have a great balance of the two. Good job.

  5. Hey Avery,
This class is really challenging when it comes to reflections on ourselves. I had such a hard time figuring out my unique qualities. The ones you mentioned are great for a leader. I liked seeing the similarities between what you said and what your family and friends had to say. It really says something about who knows you the best in your life. Great post.
